So I've been toying around with the idea of starting up a blog of some kind again, and as mentioned a while back the idea doesn't really interest me. However a related idea was that of a photoblog, and after looking into it a bit, the easiest way to do it is to leverage facebook's mobile upload. That gives it high-visibility to people I know, who don't frequent this site, with the upshot of me never having to touch a line of code. Anyhow, the goal is to take at least one picture per day, we'll see how long that lasts.
Check it out.

In the open source world, telling someone they're doing something wrong has the interesting side effect of it landing in your lap to do the right way. That's a double edged sword, to say the least. Sure, it means that if you spot a problem you get to do it your way and "scratch the itch" as they say. But on the other hand, this effect can stiffle development just as easily. No one will speak up for fear of making an implicit time committment that they know they won't be able to fulfill.

This is but a part of what's been building pressure on the dev-side of Archland for a few years now, along with a whole slew of other factors and conflicts of interest. All while the userbase continues to grow at an ever-increasing rate, more and more oblivious to the unstable foundation the distro rests on. It looks like something's going to give... soon, and it's starting to show on the internal list. Get ready for some rough times, folks (all 2 of you reading this), I don't think it'll be long before things get shaken up a whole lot more.

So it's spring break, yay.
I was seriously considering writing a little blog app for myself. I thought it might be nice to have tags and feeds and all that fun stuff again, after a long break away from it. Then my senses got back to me and I decided to just rearrange all my old news items by month, so anyone that cares may delve back and read them. If I ever get inspired to write a longer article or essay or something worthy of a title, I can just stick it someplace else. Flat files will suffice, thank you.
In other news, archlinux.org's bug tracker and bbs were both upgraded tonight. Kudos to Eliott for doing most of the work with an awesome maintenance message. Expect an AUR release in the next couple days as well.
